Romania and the Balkans are little known to Quebec cyclists, so your thirst for adventure will make them all the more interesting. We travelled the length and breadth of these countries by tandem in 2019 and 2022, and were dazzled by the change of scenery, the culture and the incredible melting pot of successive civilizations. These old countries, whose history dates back to long before the implosion of the USSR in 1991, are full of ancient villages, towns with medieval architecture that is often breathtakingly beautiful, and fabulous landscapes. We'll tell you all about our cycling lifestyle and our discoveries of Eastern Europe (Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia).

About Normand and Hélène

Full-time tandemists and cyclo-voyageurs (6 months or more every year since 2013), Hélène and Normand have accumulated 1,705 overnight stays and more than 85,000 km cycled over the past 10 years, in some 50 countries.

The Maison des cyclistes is a space for services, exchanges, information and troubleshooting for cyclists, and is a project financed under the Agreement on the cultural development of Montreal between the Ville de Montréal and the Government of Quebec.
