The spider's web

Quebec is like a spider's web, whether the cycling routes are on asphalt, gravel roads or trails. Of course, some are more pleasant than others, and some are less frequented. But what is a dream route? Apart from the feeling of fulfillment you get when you set foot on land at your destination, it's the succession of points of interest, of small objectives that you reach one after the other along the way.

My influencers

I was off for a quick ride. I quickly spotted a cyclist a few hundred metres ahead. Impeccable posture, fluid movements, pedal stroke in the oil. When he skilfully pulled into the path of a motorcycle that had just overtaken him, I knew he was a pro.

Features - Bicycles in the spotlight in Taiwan

Taipei Cycle is Taiwan's leading cycling industry event. It has regained its pre-pandemic splendor, welcoming back many international players this year. Here are a few key points gleaned from the show's aisles and from visits to domestic manufacturers.

Fundraising on two wheels

Seven hundred kilometers to fight cancer. Five hundred and twenty kilometers for the quality of life of young people in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Forty-eight kilometers of mountain biking for people at the end of life. One thousand kilometers to promote healthy lifestyle habits. If you're feeling philanthropic, there are countless opportunities to ride for a good cause every year.

Morceau choisi - Bad water and good air

Pets often resemble their owners. Stray dogs, meanwhile, reflect the local spirit. While Chilean dogs are calm and quiet, Argentinean dogs are noisy, feisty and bark non-stop. Sitting behind huge grain silos, I drag myself out of my tent at 3am, still asleep, to ward off the pack barking next door.

Destinations - Quebec's belles

Whether you're a Sunday cyclist or an inveterate rouleur, you're always on the lookout for new ideas for outings to train or simply for pleasure. Here are eight Quebec routes with an unbeatable effort-to-beauty ratio.

Énergie CMB or family mountain biking

In Mauricie, the best place for family mountain biking is at Énergie CMB. At least for now!

Chemins de traverse - Off-road adventure in Mauricie

Alongside the Promenade route in Mauricie National Park lies a vast territory ideal for gravel biking. Explore.

Meet the clubs - Pousser des watts in Drummondville

«I'm joining the peloton of steel bikes!» I said, laughing and worried at the same time, to the sixty or so cyclists wearing the red CCD jersey. At Club cycliste Drummond, the frames are carbon, the tires are narrow and the jerseys are tight. As for their cruising speed, I'll tell you all about it as soon as I get my breath back.

Between rocks and roots - When risk culture hurts

When I talk about my passion for mountain biking to people who've never had the chance to ride trails, their reaction is usually something like, «I'd never do that, it's far too dangerous.» Ouch! our favorite sport has a strange reputation.

Tips - Travel school

When planning a long family cycling trip, the question of school becomes unavoidable. Many families are even reluctant to set off, preoccupied by this question. Is it possible? The answer is yes. The family who have named themselves «Les biclous lâchés lousses» explain how.

Le coin du geek - What if it's too expensive?

Some component choices on your bike can be perplexing when you analyze the gains in performance for the price you pay. A lighter wallet won't get you any faster. Here's a list of the worst expenses on components compared to the money invested (in alphabetical order).

Bike test - Argon 18 Krypton Pro: versatility is bliss

The Krypton is one of the flagship bikes from Quebec-based Argon 18. The new version is even more versatile and faster. We had the chance to test the Pro version, a machine that doesn't hesitate to go off the beaten track.

Nutrition - Four nutritional challenges for athletes

Some people experience discomfort, stomach aches or a complete lack of energy during a bike ride. If this is your case, you may want to reconsider your eating habits. Here's a look at four nutritional issues to watch out for.

Training - Give me oxygen

If there's one function that all cyclists neglect in training, it's breathing. Rightly or wrongly?

Health - Cohesion, an asset for cyclists

We often hear about team cohesion in team sports, but what about individual sports such as cycling or running? What benefits could team cohesion bring to solo athletes?
