Montréal, Sunday, May 31, 2026 - The 2026 edition of the Go vélo Montréal Festival officially came to an end, as the last Tour de l’Île de Montréal participants crossed the finish line in Jarry Park.
Highlights
The Festival kicked off on May 24 with the Défi métropolitain. From Mirabel, nearly 2200 participants took part in the 24th edition of the event. They took to the roads of the splendid Laurentides region, marking the first major cycling event of the season.
As part of this 2026 edition, Vélo Québec was honored to welcome Florence Gall as guest speaker. She gave a powerful talk entitled «Faire plus de vélo(s) en France: une filière, des emplois et des femmes». Her talk provided essential food for thought on the feminization of the bicycle industry.
On May 29, the Tour la Nuit unfortunately had to be cancelled. Despite the combined efforts of the Vélo Québec team, the Ville de Montréal and the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal, we were unable to ensure the safety of the course in these adverse weather conditions. We would like to reiterate our sincere apologies to all Tour la Nuit participants for the cancellation.
The Festival closed on May 31 with the 41st edition of the legendary Tour de l’Île de Montréal, which drew over 21,000 participants. This year, on the occasion of the 50ᵉ anniversary of the 1976 Games, the Tour de l’Île de Montréal highlighted this legacy through various initiatives on the course, at the relays, as well as at the Jarry Park Village.
