Montréal, Friday, May 1, 2026 - Bike Month officially kicks off today!
For the entire month of May, Quebecers are invited to pedal their bikes as part of the Bike Month Challenge, a free initiative accessible via the Geovelo platform.
In a context where certain setbacks in public discourse and action in favor of cycling are giving cause for concern, Bike Month aims to be a positive and unifying occasion.
Whether it's to get to work, school, the grocery store or simply for pleasure, every pedal stroke is a reminder of the many benefits of cycling, both individually and collectively.
Two ways to get involved
The Challenge offers two ways to participate: as a community or solo.
Companies, organizations, local authorities and associations can create their own Geovelo community to mobilize their community around the pleasure of cycling.
Individuals can register by joining the «Bike Month Challenge by Vélo Québec» community, for a chance to win one of the many prizes.
A «Montréal 2026» community»
For the UCI Road World Championships to be held in Montreal this September, a special «Montreal 2026» community has been integrated into the Bike Month Challenge. Tourisme Montréal and the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal are inviting the entire cycling ecosystem to join in this initiative and pedal their way to this international event throughout the month of May.
In collaboration with Cégep de Sherbrooke
As part of Bike Month, Vélo Québec also collaborated with Cégep de Sherbrooke, inviting students in the Graphic Design program to design an animated video in support of the 2026 campaign, under the supervision of teacher Noémie Darveau.
Six projects have been selected and will be promoted on our platforms during the campaign.

With the 2026 Bike Month Challenge, every pedal stroke becomes an opportunity to make a difference - for your health, for the environment, and to strengthen the place of cycling throughout Quebec.
