Montréal, Tuesday, April 14, 2026 - Vélo Québec unveils Quebec by bike, a new interactive digital platform designed to inspire, inform and equip local and international cyclists in the planning of their cycling excursions and trips.
From now on, cyclists of all ages and backgrounds - whether touring or touring cyclists, experienced or novice - can go to www.lequebecavelo.ca to plan their outings and discover inspiring content for a different way of exploring Quebec.
«With Quebec by bike, At last, Vélo Québec offers a unified showcase for the whole of Quebec's cycling offering - a veritable national jewel! - and reinforce Quebec's positioning as a world-class cycling destination,» says Jean-François Rheault, CEO of Vélo Québec. «It's a mobilizing project that reflects our determination to showcase the collective commitment of players in the cycling and tourism industry, and reinforces Quebec's leadership in this area.»

The platform's key features
At the heart of the platform is an interactive map that brings together all of Quebec's cycling offerings: on-road routes, bike paths, gravel roads, and mountain bike and fatbike centers. Versatile and easy to consult, this map lets cyclists discover the routes and trails that criss-cross Quebec, including the famous Route verte. It lists both one-day and multi-day routes, and indicates distances, levels of difficulty, gradients, accommodation, attractions and essential services nearby.
A new flagship feature: the platform lets you plan personalized routes using its route calculator, divide them into stages and discover relevant stops suggested according to the route. It's a simple, intuitive way to organize complete outings, adapted to the pace and needs of each individual.
The platform also features a comprehensive tourism directory, highlighting services, attractions and activities in each region, with a filter dedicated to Bienvenue cyclistes!-certified establishments, recognized for their bike-friendly welcome. Cycling customers now have a real tool for planning tourist experiences on two wheels.
Finally, an editorial section brings together inspiring and practical content to inspire people to discover Quebec by bike, all year round. Pages dedicated to the platform's partner regions are also available, highlighting the richness of their offerings.
«This project clearly demonstrates our industry's commitment to developing the tourism sector in a more responsible and sustainable way. It's thanks to projects like this one that tourism is positioning itself as a lever of intervention to contribute to the enhancement of our territories and the vitality of our regions,» emphasizes Amélie Dionne, Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for the Bas-Saint-Laurent region and the Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine region.
«The support of Destination durable et action concertée has enabled us to build a bridge between Vélo Québec's expertise and the tourism industry, to promote an integrated tourism offering. By harmonizing regional tourism offerings and offering cyclists the opportunity to create personalized itineraries, they are promoting slower, more environmentally-friendly tourism that is likely to generate spin-offs in every corner of Quebec. We're delighted,» says Nicolas Girard, General Manager of the FAQDD.
Meeting the needs of cyclists and the tourism industry
Cycling tourism is booming in Quebec: more than 1.2 million people criss-cross the province on two wheels every year, generating 803 M$ in tourist spending and over 3 million overnight stays, and supporting nearly 6,400 jobs.
«Quebec has nothing to envy other cycling destinations! With its safe trails, landscapes between the mountains and the river, and picturesque villages in every region, bicycle touring and mountain biking enthusiasts are always spoiled here. The Alliance is proud to have participated, along with regional tourism associations, in the development of this Vélo Québec project», Marie-Hélène Hudon, Director of Business Development and Tourism Products, Alliance de l'industrie touristique du Québec.
This initiative would not have been possible without the support and collaboration of the 12 founding regional tourism associations: Cantons-de-l'Est, Destination Québec Cité, Montérégie, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie, Outaouais, Charlevoix, Centre-du-Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches, Lanaudière and Mauricie.
This platform is the result of in-depth work with tourism regions and stakeholders. It offers concrete, innovative tools to meet the real needs of local and international cyclists. It is an important milestone that will enable us to sustainably structure the Quebec bicycle tourism ecosystem and support its growth.
«Tools like Quebec by bike play a key role in raising the profile and structuring Quebec's cycling offer, enabling visitors to plan trips to suit their tastes. In the Eastern Townships, this platform becomes a concrete lever for discovering the region's entire cycling network and appreciating its full diversity. With a wide range of routes through varied landscapes, and an offering that combines the great outdoors, local flavours and human encounters, cycling is a great way to explore the region,» says Isabelle Charlebois, General Manager of Tourisme Cantons-de-l'Est.
This project was made possible thanks to financial support from the Quebec government as part of Destination durable et action concertée, a support measure coordinated by the Fonds d'action québécois pour le développement durable (FAQDD) under the Plan pour une économie verte 2030 and the Plan d'action pour un tourisme responsable et durable 2020-2025.
